Black Friday is great, but it’s time to shift our focus to Small Business Saturday! A day where so many wonderful small companies get some much deserved attention.
In this Stately Statement, we share some information about Small Business Saturday, why you should participate, and some of the small businesses that we love.

How did Small Business Saturday start
Small Business Saturday was introduced in 2010 by American Express with the intention of supporting small businesses during the recession, by driving people towards them for holiday shopping.
Why should you shop small
Strengthening the local economy - Small businesses are more likely to reinvest their profits into the local economy. According to research, for every $100 spent at a local business, roughly 68% stays within the community (when factoring in local wages, suppliers, and taxes). In contrast, only about 43% stays local when spent at chain stores.
Unique and quality items - There are many small businesses that offer very niche items, providing a special feeling of customization and personalization. In many instances, small businesses are able to use rare or high-quality materials that aren't commonly available in mainstream products providing the consumer an end product that is unique to them and will last a lifetime.

Dorothy Shain
Everything that artist Dorothy Shain creates is playful, colorful, and inspiring! An artist based out of South Carolina, Dorothy started selling her art in 2014 and hasn’t looked back. Her art celebrates travel, exploring, and experiences. Her butterfly and sneakers collections are our favorite! And the nice things is that not only can you buy her original pieces but she offers prints as well!
Lawrences
If you’ve lived in Fort Worth long enough, you know Lawrence’s. It’s the go-to place for birthday gifts, house warming gifts, graduation… literally everything. We love their cards, jewelry, and house decor - you can spend hours shopping. You can stop into their store front or you can also purchase online! (Also, how about this beautiful Kori Green necklace! You know how much we love our butterfly!)

Imagine grabbing lunch at Bergdorfs and then popping into the LilyEve New York Showroom to try on the jacket of your dreams… sign us up! Their story on how they started is so fun, check it out on their Instagram - @lily.eve.store
Noble 31
Madi and Mackenzie, founders of Noble 31, are sisters who love all things design from clothing, to home goods, to art! They have released some amazing clothes over the last few years, our favorites being The Emma and The Betty Pant. Their pieces are so versatile and can easily be worn to work, on an errand day, or out to dinner with friends.
Our Spare Change
Another company that hits close to home since it was founded by two sisters! Danielle and Hillary came up with the idea while road tripping across the country, a few months later, Our Spare Change was born with one sole purpose - to create high-quality jewelry, by hand that could tell stories. One of our favorite pieces that they sell is the butterfly charm!!
The Holly
Welcome to our favorite wine bar in Fort Worth!! The Holly is located in the South Main District, specializing in serving organic wine and yummy snacks. We joke that this is our second office, because so much of the initial work to get Stately off the ground was done over a sourdough load and wine. (Stay tuned - we’re going to write a whole blog on The Holly!)
Ella Blu
Ella Blu! One of our go to boutiques in El Paso, TX that has everything from dresses and jewelry, to formal gowns and home decor. Locally owned, Ella Blu is the perfect store to stop into if you’re looking for a dress for dinner or need a hostess gift! Sophia and her team have you covered.
